THE PASSION IN JUDGING
Life is a book with infinite chapters but understanding how to judge may very well take a lifetime.

In the year 2000, the PCCI Judges Development & Licensing Committee (JDLC) was actively inviting a few chosen candidates to study and learn how one can become a judge; how to attain a specialist breed license or to have a specific group license. While this long process of learning was taking place, having a long range of patience and knowing that knowledge is endless, I was able to advance from one group to the next. While I accepted the different assignments, judging dogs has taken me to the different places in our country. And I have experienced several judging systems, in each I have observed something new and advantageous to my greater knowledge of our dogs here and globally.

Many people have asked me why I chose to judge. Hmmm---Some judges have said that they like to judge because from their vast experience of anything to do with dogs, their opinion could contribute and add to the development of the particular breed. Some have told me that's a natural progression from owning, showing, breeding dogs. One person I had asked replied that it's his way to "give something back" to the community of dog lovers. And for the other judges, it's their passport to traveling the world.

As for me, this is a simple question to answer. I see judging dogs as a challenge, a game as well as a duel with myself. I like to meet up with a substantial number of dogs inside the ring and make the right decision on which dog to put up. In doing so, this process is such a thrilling experience! I would be eager to see a dog or a puppy that I have never seen before and which proved to be superior in the competition that day amongst the many entries. In fact I would be priviledged to give the award to this special dog. It is also a feeling of personal satisfaction that if this particular dog will go on to many more successes,

I like to judge, and take this task seriously, which is why I resolve to do my best for the DOGS, rather than just their owners. I like to judge independently - regardless of ownership, pedigree, nationality, sponsorship or political acceptability. A JUDGE who is not independent, will never reach her full potential as she will be spending too much time worrying about her irrelevancies. It is a given fact that politics in the dog world will always be around. The people make themselves more important than the dogs! I guess Dog showing is our way of life.which is very dear to us. Once the spirit of a dog enters the soul of a true fancier, it will never disappear. And with this in mind, I believe it is the sincerest feeling of anyone to have the highest standard of dogs in the show ring, and to have them judged correctly and unbiasely by a respectable and knowledgeable judge.
